People of H-3, Hofn AFS Iceland
Many different groups served at H-3

Although the U.S. Air Force was the primary occupant of Hofn AFS Iceland, there were many other groups that supported this Aircraft Control and Warning radar site and helped in the mission of defending the United States and Iceland.

Among them, in addition to the Airmen, were U.S. civilian government contract employees who maintained the Tropospheric Scatter Communications systems that linked the various elements serving across the North Atlantic connecting various military bases and sites from England to Canada.  I do not have any pictures nor have any of these civilian employees contacted me with information that could be added to the site regarding their mission,  If you know of any of these employees, please ask them to get in contact with me so I can more completely show what went on at H-3.

The U.S. Marine Corps also played a part in the history of H-3 by providing radar coverage when the Air Force's radar equipment was being replaced with newer, more modern equipment.
