Just ran across you site Joe. Love it and the comments being made. So many memories and flashbacks began hitting all at once.
So many memories I don't know where to begin. I do remember lots of good folks but not there names anymore. I also remember Barney as I worked for and respected him very much. He came about half way through my tour as I was there July 67 thru July 68. I remember the surprised look on his face as LTC Howard presented him with his promotion to MSGT. I was stationed there with my brother Vic, and we actually resided in the Navy barracks as there was no room for me in the airman's barracks when I first arrived. They graciously permitted us to live with them our entire year tour, of course with the duty of keeping the latrine (head) clean for inspections. We weren't twins (a year apart) but there were twins there with the Navy.
I also remember making friends with some marines as the spent some time with us while our radar was down for major modifications. They came with a mobile radar delivered by C130, which looked quite large on the little Hofn gravel strip runway.
Bubble checks, "Bear" intercepts, old movies, midnight ballgames, unloading supplies when the boat came in, basketball games on a damp cement floor, drinking, burgers at the tiny dinner, and plane detail create many fond memories. But best of all was sharing it all with some of the best folks in the military. God bless you all.

Please feel free to to post my comments. Maybe others will also post memories. I worked in the 6 tower and must know you as you were a fellow maintenance tech and also a buck Sgt. I remember a lot of faces but not so many names. Do you remember Fred (girl cat) and Judy (boy cat) that lived in the search tower ceiling? A lot of memories from there usually leave me smiling.
From Joe,
Sure do remember Fred, the super shy cat, and Judy, who would sometimes nap on the dummy load for the search radar. Judy would be happy to see you but Fred could only be coaxed out if you had a can of sardines to overcome her shyness.
